Finised front page!

This is my completed cover for my magazine, I am happy with my completed cover. The main factor I like about my front cover is my photograph. To make the background lighter; I had to cut out my model, lighten the background and place the model back on to it, I did this using photoshop. I think the photo looks professional, I also like how my model is standing and his body language as it gives the correct impression of 'Mikey' which i wanted to portary to my audience. I think generally the photo is interesting and looks intriguing which will make the readers want to read the rest of the magazine.
Throughout my magazine I have stuck to a red, black/grey and white colour theme. I did this to keep my magazine simple so it does look to confusing resulting in it having a 'messy', unprofessional look with lots of different colours. I also wanted to keep my magazine constant and wanted my audience to be able to reconise and relate to 'Disco Dirt' with this colour scheme. I have highlighted words such as; Mikey, Free, win and revealed, I did this to catch the reader attention and draw them in.
I also think my front cover is successful as you can clearly see it is an house/techo/dance magazine from this front cover. It is extremely important that the audience can recognise what genre the magazine is from the front cover, so they are aware of what type of genre the magazine is going to be throughout the magazine. My front cover protrays a house/dance music genre for many reasons such as; it says DJ and clubbing, it also mentions Ibiza twice (which people automatically associate with clubbing and dance/techno music). I have also mentioned some famous mucis artists in this genre such as; Chase&Status, Deadmau5, hot chip, and Ellie Goulding. I have also have included a free CD of a new DJ called 'Lee Foss' for every reader, this will attract customers to buy the magazine.

I have used a masthead on my front cover, as I think they are an important way to appeal to customers. I think this because mastheads are clearly invisible in shops as most shops which sell magazines will display them in a magazine rack. Magazine racks only show the top of the magazine, therefore it is important I put a masthead which will draw the audience in. On my masthead I have advertised how the audience can win a clubbing holiday to Ibiza, I have put the word 'win' in bold letters and wrote get more info inside. My target audience are generally people who like clubbing, therefore this would be a holiday most of them would want to win, making them want to buy the magazine to read more about it. I have also used a barcode with the date and price, and included the magazines website at the bottom of the page, this makes the magazine look more realistic and professional.
